Yes, its that time of year when we can enjoy the Festivals and Street Fairs of San Francisco!  It seems like every neighborhood has something cool happening. 

So here we go, your guide to the Spring and Summer 2012 schedule:

1.  March 11th - Sunday Streets  - at Pier 39 and Embarcadero.  City residents, visitors and their families can run, walk, skip, bike, dance along The Embarcadero and head to PIER 39 for a day of fun and fitness. Kids of all ages will enjoy PIER 39's Sunday Streets activities which include a basketball toss, an obstacle course, live music, informative displays and a special Sidewalk Sale featuring fabulous deals from participating merchants!

2.  March 17th - 161st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival - Civic Center Plaza. The colorful festivities surrounding the parade will showcase Irish Culture through live performance and entertainment, arts and crafts exhibitors, food and beverage concessions, children's rides and inflatables, cultural displays, a petting zoo and pony ride and a number of non-profits booths representing the Irish community.

3.  April 8th - Union Street Spring Celebration & Easter Parade - on Union Street from Gough to Steiner.   A variety of children's and family activities are the focus of the event and include; large inflatable bounces, kids' rides and games, a climbing wall, a hands-on children's activities area, costumed characters, a petting zoo, a pony ride and entertainment from some of the Bay Area's best musicians.

4.  April 13th - Giants Opening Day!  - AT&T Ball Park - Need I say more! 

5.  April 14-15th and 21-22nd - Cherry Blossom Festival & Parade - Post St between Laguna and Fillmore St.   This one of California's most prominent celebrations of Asian traditions. Each year, over 200,000 people attend this dazzling display showcasing the color and grace of the Japanese culture and the diversity of the Japanese American Community.

6.  April 22nd - Earth Day - Civic Center Plaza.  Live music, Speakers, Workshops, Art and Food.  Celebrate the "Greenest City in North America"!

7.  May 5th - Cinco De Mayo Festival - Dolores ParkSan Francisco's annual Cinco de Mayo celebration is one of the City's most spectacular traditions! SF Cinco de Mayo showcases the very best of Mexican and Latin American cultures with a diverse array of music, dance and artistry for the entire family to enjoy.

8.  May 19th - Uncorked: San Francisco Wine Festival - Ghiradelli Square.  Enjoy live music, wine seminars and chef demonstrations at this free event. Tickets must be purchased to participate in wine tasting.

9.  May 20th - Bay to Breakers - Starts in the Financial District and ends in Golden Gate Park.  This is the 101st Annual race with costume contest and much much more!

10.  May 26-27th - Carnaval Festival & Parade - The Mission.  The Festival draws hundreds of thousands of people for two days of dancing Salsa, Samba, Reggae, Tango, Hip- Hop, Merengue, Calypso, Cha Cha Cha, Cumbia, and Mambo into the evening. Food vendors offer traditional delicacies, while others sell crafts native to the Carnaval countries of their heritage.

11.  June 2-3rd - Union Street Festival - Cow Hollow.  Features arts and crafts created with recycled and sustainable materials and eco-friendly exhibits. Additionally, the Festival showcases 150 arts & crafts booths, 25 gourmet food booths, two stages of live entertainment and bistro style cafes.

12.  June 10th - Haight Ashbury Street Fair - The Haight.  the Haight-Ashbury community hosts a special celebration and everyone in the World is invited. Music is in the air; people dance in the streets; a festive atmosphere springs up; and Haight Street, once again, becomes the center of Peace, Love and Happiness.    A variety of activities will be taking place including three stages offering live entertainment; a six-block Vending Area featuring arts & crafts, food and other merchandise; an area dedicated to the entertainment of families with children; and an opportunity to celebrate with many other like-minded people.

13.  June 16-17th - North Beach Festival - Washington Square and surrounding North Beach.  The 2012 event will feature over 125 arts and crafts booths, 20 gourmet food booths, three stages of live entertainment, Italian street painting, beverage gardens, children's activities and the blessing of the animals. 
14.  June 23-24th - LBGT Pride Celebration & Parade - Civic Center Plaza.  The 2012 San Francisco Pride theme is, "Global Equality".  After the parade ends the party begins with multiple stages of live entertainment, food and LBGT booths.

15.  July 4th - Pier 39 Waterfront Celebration - Pier 39.  Witness the skies sparkle red, white and blue as PIER 39 celebrates Independence Day with fun for the whole family! Spend the day rocking out to live bands in PIER 39's Entrance Plaza, and at approximately 9:30pm look to the sky as The City of San Francisco presents a spectacular fireworks display over San Francisco Bay. So grab your stars and stripes and take advantage of PIER 39's amazing 360-degree Bay views this 4th of July.

16.  July 7-8th - Fillmore Jazz Festival - Fillmore Street from Jackson to Eddy. 
Blending art and soul in one of the country's most unique neighborhoods, the Fillmore Jazz Festival is the largest free Jazz festival on the West Coast, drawing over 90,000 visitors over the Independence Day weekend. From sunup to sundown, visitors can groove to the sounds of live music from multiple stages, browse the offerings of over 8 blocks of fine art and crafts and enjoy gourmet food and beverages. Asian to Cajun, paintings to pottery, old favorites and new directions, the Fillmore Jazz Festival is not to be missed.

17.  July 29th - Up Your Alley Fair - Dorey Alley, SOMA.  The precursor to the Folsom Street Fair.  Its a destination for kinksters and the tourists who ogle them, the Up Your Alley Fair has become increasingly important as a more intimate oasis for local leatherheads who remember the scene's old days.  

18.  September 22-23rd - The Polk Street Blues Festival - Polk Street, Jackson to California St. The Festival will feature two main stages, a merchant marketplace, arts and crafts, gourmet food booths, a large family area, cafe seating areas, and much more.

19.  September 23 - Folsom Street Fair - Folsom Street from 7th to 12th Street in SOMA.  With over 400,000 people in attendance covering 13 city blocks, the Fair is the largest leather/fetish event in the world and the third largest, single-day outdoor event in California.
